Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 30 July 2026
These terms cover your use of Balance, the lending and borrowing tracker at balance.transactor.app ("Balance"). Balance is part of Transactor and run by the same people. By signing in and using it, you agree to what is below. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. What Balance is
Balance lets you list the people you lend money to and borrow money from, record each amount you send or receive with a date and an optional remark, and see the running total with each person and overall. That is all it does.
Balance is free. There is no paid tier, no trial and no card required. The intention is to keep it that way, though that is a statement of intent rather than a promise that it will run forever.
2. Balance is a record, not an agreement
This is the most important thing on this page. Balance is a private note to yourself about money that moved. It is not a contract, not a loan agreement, not a promissory note, and not proof of a debt.
The people you record never see what you wrote and never agree to it, so an entry in Balance binds nobody. It calculates no interest, charges no fees, sends no reminders and takes no side if you and someone else remember an amount differently. If money between you and another person needs to be enforceable, that needs a real agreement, made outside this app.
3. Your account
- You sign in to Balance with your Transactor account. Balance has no separate password, and your use of the Transactor account is also governed by Transactor's terms.
- Keep your Transactor credentials to yourself. Anything done through a session opened from your account is treated as done by you.
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live.
- If you think somebody else has got into your account, email support@transactor.app straight away.
4. Your data is yours
The people and entries you create belong to you. You grant only the narrow permission needed to run the service — to store your records, back them up, and show them back to you. Nobody else is shown them; there is no sharing feature in Balance. How your data is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for what you enter, including the accuracy of the amounts and the appropriateness of what you record about other people. See section 5.
5. The people you record
Balance holds names of people who never signed up for it, so a small amount of care is on you:
- Record only what you genuinely need in order to know who is who.
- Do not use the name or remark fields to store sensitive details about somebody else, or anything you would not be comfortable being asked about.
- Do not use Balance to keep records about people in a way that would break the law where you live.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Balance for anything unlawful — including money laundering, fraud, unlicensed money lending, or hiding income that ought to be declared.
- Use it to threaten, harass or pressure anyone, or as a tool in any kind of intimidation over money.
- Probe, overload or try to break into the service, or attempt to reach anybody else's records.
- Scrape, resell, or reverse engineer the service.
Accounts that break these rules may be suspended or closed.
7. Not professional advice
Balance adds and subtracts what you type in. Its totals are a convenience, not accounting, tax, or legal advice, and they are only as right as what you entered. Anything with real consequences — a tax filing, a dispute, a significant sum — deserves a qualified professional, not this app.
8. Availability and changes
Balance is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Features may be added, changed or removed. It may be unavailable at times, planned or otherwise. If it is ever discontinued, reasonable effort will be made to give notice and a chance to get your data out first.
Balance is not a backup of anything. Keep your own record of any figure that would genuinely matter if it were lost.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, neither Balance nor its maker is liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for any lost profit, revenue, data or opportunity arising out of your use of, or inability to use, Balance. This expressly includes any dispute between you and a person you have recorded, and any decision you take on the strength of a number the app showed you.
Balance is free, and total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to ₹1,000 (one thousand Indian rupees).
10. Intellectual property
The Balance and Transactor names, logos, design and software are the maker's property. These terms give you no rights in them beyond using the service as intended. Your own records stay yours — see section 4.
11. Ending it
You can stop using Balance whenever you like, and can have your account and records deleted by emailing support@transactor.app. Accounts may be suspended or closed if these terms are broken or if the law requires it. Once it ends, your right to use Balance stops; deletion of your data happens as described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. Material changes will show up on this page with a new date at the top. Continuing to use Balance after that means you accept the revised terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
